As far as I know, there is no perks program for .nyc similar to what .co offers. There were some people who were part of a Founders group and they got some benefits in terms of publicity. There may also be some things planned for the future to give .nyc adopters visibility through Digital.nyc or other venues. But no discount tickets or the like that I am aware of.
Maybe others feel differently, but I would not buy a domain name based on the perks of 'membership' akin to .co extension. While nice to get some extra perks, I can't imagine a situation where these types of things would be decisive in what domain extension I might choose. As a result, I can't really get past the premise of your question.
To me the benefits of any extension over another is far and away determined by other factors. The three main factors being probably: the suitability of a given extension for the name I want, the reputation and 'brand' awareness of the extension, and the availability/price of a given name in that extension.
