I would like to use a domain name that has two words, but those exact words were used in a book title and are trademarked. So let's say that the book was "Beautiful Flowers Today" and my domain "Flowers Today". Is this a violation of the trademark?

Depends, Are they copyrighted, dictionary words, name-surname, accidental match to something, your intent/objective from this domain.
I am assuming if its a combination of famous/dictionary words it won't be available in the market place.
