Why are most of the people in the software industry unhappy with their lives?

Most of this unhappiness comes from our illusive dependencies on peers and employer. We tend to think that our paychecks are coming from employers but the fact is that they are coming from our skills, and company/employer is just a medium. If you keep enhancing your skills to remain market/future relevant independent of how your peers are doing you will be able to attract employers who need exact skills and attitude that you have

But most get trapped into non-creative work and wait for multiple break-time and end of the week day; and pay check at the end of the month.

If you are unhappy and can't get out this in another one or two years so either you are very much comfortable or you spend your day comparing yourself with your peers  and you are totally consumed with it
