Being a software engineer, how can you earn more money other than your salary?

You could

1. Freelance your software services on various online market place and work after office hours or few hours on weekends
2. Build a web platform/blog to teach software engineering and monetize  the traffic
3. Create media ( videos, podcasts and eBooks ) on your subject and sell it
4. Get attach to some universities and local institutes and give course lectures

If you are thinking long term #2 from the above list is the way go. I have build multiple platforms  for many techies. fyi, i own a premium domain names ProgrammingFundamentals.com for the same purpose.
